This is why I’ve created this Mindfulness Photography Plan.

7-Day Mindfulness Photography Plan

Day 1: Setting the Foundation

Objective: Introduce the concept of mindful photography practice and prepare yourself for the journey ahead.

  1. Morning: Find a quiet space to sit. Close your eyes, take deep breaths, and let go of any distractions. Focus on your breath for 10 minutes.
  2. Afternoon: Take a walk in your local surroundings with your camera. Begin to observe your environment without taking any photos. Notice details, colours, textures, and light.
  3. Evening: Reflect on your day. What did you notice during your walk? What caught your attention? Write down your observations in a journal.

Day 2: The Art of Seeing

Objective: Enhance your observation skills and learn to see the world through a mindful lens.

  1. Morning: Go for a morning walk in a familiar place. This time, bring your camera with you. Practice looking for interesting details and compositions.
  2. Afternoon: Experiment with different angles and perspectives. Take at least five photos of the same subject from various angles. Try to capture its essence.
  3. Evening: Review your photos. What did you discover about your subject through these different perspectives? Write your thoughts in your journal.

Day 3: Embracing Nature

Objective: Connect with the natural world and capture its beauty through mindful photography.

  1. Morning: Visit a nearby park or nature reserve. Spend time observing the trees, wildlife, flowers, or any natural elements that catch your eye. Take photos that reflect the serenity of the natural world.
  2. Afternoon: Look for patterns and textures in nature. Photograph the intricate details of leaves, the ripples in water, or the bark of trees.
  3. Evening: Reflect on the peace and beauty of nature. Write about how it made you feel and how your photos captured these emotions.

Day 4: Finding Beauty in Everyday Objects

Objective: Discover the extraordinary in the ordinary.

  1. Morning: Stay at home and choose a mundane object, like a cup or a piece of fruit. Place it in different settings and experiment with lighting to capture its beauty.
  2. Afternoon: Seek beauty in everyday life. Take your camera with you as you run errands and find beauty in the mundane.
  3. Evening: Reflect on how ordinary objects can be transformed into something beautiful through your lens. Write about your experience in your journal.

  1. Morning: Approach a friend or family member. Ask them to express different emotions – joy, sadness, surprise, etc. Capture their genuine expressions.
