This year, the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 was an unforgettable experience. The warm yet overcast day created a perfect backdrop for capturing the event’s essence. Armed with my trusty Canon EOS 5DS R, I set out with my favorite Canon L Series 24-70mm lens, but I mostly relied on my daughter’s Canon L Series 70-200mm lens for the action-packed shots. Here’s a personal glimpse into the day’s highlights.

Goodwood Festival of Speed Highlights of the Day
- Classic Cars: One of my first shots was of a beautifully restored vintage car. The overcast sky provided a soft light that highlighted its elegant lines.
- Hill Climb Excitement: Switching to the 70-200mm lens, I captured the thrill of the hill climb. The speed and precision of the drivers were breathtaking.
- Behind the Scenes: Wandering into the paddock, I caught a candid moment of mechanics hard at work. The dedication and passion behind the scenes are always inspiring.
- High-Speed Action: The 70-200mm lens was perfect for freezing the high-speed action on the track. One of my favorite shots is of a car kicking up dust as it sped past.
- Festival Atmosphere: The panoramic shots of the bustling festival grounds really captured the vibrant atmosphere. Food stalls, interactive exhibits, and happy faces everywhere.
